not sure I'd care for that, at least not nearly as much as the apple.ĭarn, how do they ship cold items consistently? I suppose because it's alcohol there are stiffer restrictions on shipping, but aren't there quite a few wine box services you can order to your home?Īnyway, I heard there may be a Busch Light Pineapple from one of the local drivers. Unfortunately none of them will ship to Nebraska. Now I can't find it because it was seasonal and I was going to buy it online, as I've found some out of town places that still have some.

I bought out everything I could find at the local stores, but some Coca Cola delivery driver beat me to the Family Fare on 144th and Center which I guess had quite a bit left. Somewhat related (in the sense it's a grocery store item) I was trying to track down Busch Light Apple as that became my favorite drink last summer. Interesting to find out the details of that.ĭamn, how do they ship cold items consistently?

The ads on the TV broadcast this season mention that you can order groceries nationwide from them for delivery.

I'm an Ind圜ar fan, For a couple years Hy-Vee's been sponsoring a car. I still hit Baker's and Target but have been surprised how much other stuff I have been buying at Fareway and how competitive their prices are. Since the Fareway opened at 132nd and Fort I have pretty much stopped shopping at Hy Vee. For a few items and meat I normally went to Hy Vee though. Hy Vee was never my primary grocery store (just because it's so much more expensive than Baker's and Target where I had primarily gone). However, Hy-Vee will be along soon enough to fix the problem. So, Gretna losing McKinney's (which is open 7 days a week) in favor of Fareway (which is closed Sundays) is going to be frustrating for a lot of people. Obviously, Fareway has succeeded despite being closed Sundays, but it feels like most people grocery shop on the weekends and there's certainly a lot of "Oh, shoot, forgot the _" shopping that happens Sunday nights. Sunday is a pretty key day to not be open. I'm excited for the Hy-Vee to come to Gretna. If you need paper goods, toiletries, cleaning supplies, vitamins, and whatnot then you're probably not going to want to peruse Fareway's paltry selection of that stuff.

Also, Fareway has no real deli to speak of. However, for just about everything else (chicken, pork, sausages, fish, seafood) the average Hy-Vee is just as good or better. All of their beef is USDA Choice and they sell it at fairly decent prices considering. When it comes to beef the Fareway meat counter is pretty impressive. It's no "supermarket," so I try not to use the same measuring stick on it that I would Hy-Vee or Baker's.įareway's meat counter is a tad over-rated. Overall, I like Fareway as a small grocery store. Perhaps the meat counter is the big winner with them, but I wasn't impressed with their selection of off the shelf items. I went into the Fareway off of 168th & Harrison a couple of weeks ago and I felt like I was in an Osco Drug from the 80's. It will be interesting to see what other businesses are attracted to the 192nd location - I always thought a Target closer to Gretna would do well (not next door to a HyVee but possibly up the street somewhere). typically I shop at the 180th & Q and that's their smallest store in Omaha. I'm looking forward to the 192nd & 370 HyVee opening up later. however, IMO, I wouldn't shop Fareway over HyVee. I noticed that, too! I also figured it had to do with Fareway. I can't think of any other reason Hy Vee would be making such a big deal that they are open on Sunday's. Pretty much screams that Fareway is really starting to hit their bottom line. I noticed this weekend while watching the basketball tournament that Hy Vee has started airing ads about being open on Sunday's.
